regoionals write up from gange's vantage point

60s and 70s

Good advice:

We went undefeated at Southern Regionals! I'm filing an official protest on us not winning the costume trophy as well.

Team Box Announces 2008 Nationals Squad!

Calculator Parma.

Start booking your flights to Regionals in Adelaide & Nats in Coffs Harbour. Confirmed dates and more information can be found at > tournaments > calendar. Sunday trainings are compulsory for all on the Nationals squad, unless you have a valid reason for missing one. Stay tuned for details of mid-week trainings too.

I have to say how hard this selection was. As well as having to turn away some very good players, it was also not fun at all to choose between friends. While we're pleased that Team Box appears to be such a popular team, we're sad at the necessity of choosing some over others for tournaments. Last year, we were saved having to do any cuts as we were just a new team starting out. We luckily hit on a wonderful balance of players which meant successful results and great fun along the way. I hope that a similar vibe can be recreated this season at training and tournaments.

We've been frantically sorting through options for those not listed on the nationals squad to still play nationals and hopefully regionals as well. Needless to say, if you can't train with the team you go to nationals with due to that team being interstate, you are always welcome to attend Team Box training. We had hoped to have some more definite options sorted by the time this email got sent, but we're waiting for word from others and it's out of our hands for the time being.

Also, if you simply enjoy training and hanging out with Team Box and decide not to attend tournaments this year, come along to training as well. It's been great to see everyone so far.

Training weekend seems suspiciously devoid of training...

Boxlidgoose champions

All results of legitimate* tournaments should be collated in the following list. At the end of the season a lidded box containing a live goose will be awarded to the overall champion. Or maybe I'll just shout them a beer. We'll see. Anyway, as a point of reference, it should be noted that the assigned value of a win will increase as the relative probability of a win diminishes. ie. the more people contending for a win, the more valuable that win is.

Courtney - 5 (max pub)
Jillaine - 6 (gunn island pub)
Jess - 7 ** (training weekend)
Sophie - 5 (training weekend)
Hussey - 3 (training weekend)
Arwen - 4 (fish and chips shop)
Jess - 3 (league)
Arwen - 3 (melton junior's day)
Seb Barr - 5 (melton. Ballarat girls are to blame for this travesty!)
Joy - 4
Amanda? - 4/5? (confirmation needed...)
James Phillips - 5 (sorry, that one was my fault)

*See (far too) extensive rules to determine the specifications for a legitimate tournament.
**Currently holds naming rights.
